Utopia is a small demonstration farm located about 3.5 kilometers from downtown San Ramón, in the Alajuela province. Its central location in Costa Rica provides direct routes to the capital San José and tourist provinces like Puntarenas and Guanacaste, known for their beaches. Nearby, the Arenal Volcano offers another popular destination. Despite its proximity to the city, the farm retains a rural feel with beautiful sunsets in summer and rainy views in winter. The main lodging is a cozy cypress wood cabin with shared rooms and a balcony that overlooks the countryside and attracts local birds.

Our Unique

Bird watching tours are another highlight, guided by the host's deep knowledge of the local avian species. These tours offer enthusiasts a chance to observe the vibrant and diverse birdlife that frequents the area's native trees and garden.

The property is about 10,000 square meters and showcases a significant diversity of native tree species. There is a small forest covering a quarter of the land, offering a relaxing stroll. The highlights include a large, centuries-old tree with a small cabin underneath, perfect for couples, offering great views. The farm also features endemic trees, various fruit and banana plants, butterfly-attracting plants, and bird species. Additionally, there's a chicken farm for egg production, a large terrace with rocking chairs, a wood stove, and an oven for occasional wood-fired cooking. The host of Finca Utopia enriches the stay of every visitor by offering a range of engaging activities that showcase the farm's natural and cultural heritage. Guests can experience traditional sugar cane juicing using a trapiche, a manually operated mill, which not only provides a taste of local agricultural practices but also a sweet sample of freshly extracted sugarcane juice.
